UPDATES

I have returned to Torquay after nearly a month in Japan, at the Mokuhunga School. I was in Kaurizawa for a two week residency, living in a traditional home and working with two like minded artists; from Finnland and a Japanese resident from the USA. We were lead by Terry McLean, an Australian printmaker who nows lives in Kayirzawa.

I learnt so much in the two weeks as I had never worked in Makuhunga before. 

​

I had a further 10 days in Tokyo and Kyoto. I visited some super art supplies shops, as well as galleries and museums.

I visited a big exhibition of Hokusai and Hiroshige Mokuhunga prints in Kyoto; and a fabulous exhibition of Kyosai, at the Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo, which was largely ink drawings and fabulous.

Recently, I had a wonderful week in Newcastle for a five day artist's residency, at the Hunter Writers’ Centre at the Lighthouse on Nobby's Point. I was the only visual artist in the group, I was surrounded by writers and poets: an encouraging welcoming cohort. A beautiful experience - Newcastle is amazing and I encourage anyone who is considering it to go!

Earlier this year, I completed a workshop at the Firestation Print Studio and was excited to develop some new images in intaglio form; I have not worked in this method for a very long time. I have added a print from the workshop in the gallery sections. Thanks to Bronwyn Rees.

My artistic practice has been moulded by my experience of the landscapes surrounding me. I see my work visually mapping my environment as I travel through it, as a timeline and record of my continuing journey.

All the art works here are original works of art; each has been created by me, none use digital imaging or AI. They are not available as digital files, only as physical pieces. The works can be mailed anywhere in the world. You can own an original art work for not much more than a mass produced piece which has never had interaction with the artist.

​

Artists prints are repeatable images, which means that generally there are about 10 in each edition; this means you can purchase one or two and they are both original. In the lower Left Hand corner is a fraction, for example 2/10. That means there are 10 versions of that print made and this is the second one. Other prints may have U/S for Unique State which means although printmaking methods have been used this is the only version exactly like that.
